• What are Himalayan Dog Chews?

  The Original Himalayan Dog Chew is a hard-cheese chew crafted using an ancient cultural cheese-making technique from Nepal. Our team spent four years re-engineering the chews to remove the lactose and fat content to create a healthy, savory long-lasting chew for dogs.
  Our chews are an alternative to rawhide or “body parts” as an enrichment chew for dogs. Our chews are lactose-, grain-, gluten-, soy-, and corn-free. Himalayan Dog Chews contain no artificial colors or flavoring and are safe and easily digestible.

• Does HDC expire?

  Most chews last up to 5 years when stored appropriately. All chews should be kept in an airtight package, and avoid extreme heat or cold weather for proper storage. If the chews are exposed to too much moisture they can mold. Or, when stored in too cold of temperatures, the chews can lose moisture and become brittle. Please be sure to properly store your Himalayan Dog Chews!

• Is Himalayan Cheese good for Dogs?

  Himalayan Cheese is an alternate source of protein and chewing fulfills dogs’ physiological need to provide mental stimulation.

• How long do Himalayan Chews last?

  Our chews are known to last up to 7X longer than a bully stick. While the exact duration time for how long a chew lasts is dependent on the dog, we created Himalayan Dog Chew to be a long-lasting chew for dogs to get the most out of their enrichment time.

• Why are some chews darker or lighter in color?

  This is what we call the hues of chews! Colors vary depending on the location of the chew while in the smoker. The darker the chew indicates the chew was closer to smoke while the lighter indicates being further away. Occasionally you may also see little dark freckles along the chews. This is from moisture build-up within the containers – little bits of liquid smoke drip down onto the chews enhancing the flavor that much more for your pup!

• Why do some chews smell stronger than others?

  The smokiness varies depending on the location of what type of “smokehouse” the chew was smoked in. We have 45,000 farmers around the world with a variety of smokehouses; some are thatched huts, some are smoked over an open fire and some smokehouses are completely enclosed in an industrial fashion. The enclosure determines the strength of smoky aroma in our chews.

• Will the cheese in Himalayan Dog Chews upset my dog’s stomach?

  Our cheese chews have had the lactose removed using our proprietary method, making them easily digestible for dogs. When given intermittently, cheese should not upset your dog’s stomach.

• Is Himalayan Dog Chew digestible?

  The Original Himalayan Dog Chew is all-natural and easily digestible.

• What products are good for my older/younger dog?

  Older and younger dogs alike would do well with our Himalayan Bone Chew and any product from our yakySNACKS line. The vegetable glycerin in our yakySNACKS makes a softer product that is easier for older or younger pups to chew. Finally, our Himalayan Bone Chews are hand pressed into molds, so the texture is softer than our original chews, making them easy to chew with puppy-teeth and senior dog teeth.
